MSU Heads North To Play In Bearcat Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – In its second competition of the season, the Mississippi State men's golf team will trek north to participate in the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati.
"We are looking forward to getting back into competition this week in Cincinnati," MSU coach Clay Homan said. "With each tournament we are looking to get better, and I'd be disappointed if that wasn't the case this week."
Starting at 7:30 a.m. CT Monday, Mississippi State will play 54-holes in two days.
A total of 10 teams will compete with the Bulldogs including Akron, Cincinnati, College of Charleston, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee, Ohio State, and Xavier.
"We will see some pretty good teams this week, and we will need to play at a high level," Homan said. "The format is a different in that it is a six-count for the tournament."
The six-man starting lineup will feature Ross Bell, Taylor Bibbs, Taylor Grant and Garrett Johnson, in addition to Jackson Dick making his season debut and Grant Motter making his MSU debut.
MSU will be coming off a solid 3rd place finish to open the season, as all five Bulldogs finished within the top 30 at Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg, Miss., last week. Juniors Grant and Bibbs tied for 12th place, the best performances for the Maroon and White.
