Dakota Hudson Named D1 Baseball All-American

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Another day means another All-America list for Dakota Hudson, as he was named to D1 Baseball's Third Team on Thursday.
D1 Baseball is the fourth publication to award the Bulldog ace All-American status after he was named a Second Team selection by Baseball America, Louisville Slugger, and NCBWA. The ABCA selected him to their All-Region team on Wednesday.
Hudson propelled the 2016 Diamond Dawgs to their first outright SEC Championship in 27 years, holding a 9-5 record and a 2.55 ERA. He tossed a team-high 113.0 innings and also fanned 115 opposing sluggers. His ERA and strikeout numbers were both good for fifth in the conference. The Dunlap, Tennessee native now sits in eighth in MSU history with 115 strikeouts in a single season.
The first round draft pick also tossed three complete games in 2016, including back-to-back complete game shutouts against SEC competition in May. His nine wins this season were the most since Ross Mitchell's 13 in 2013, and most by a weekend starter since Chris Stratton had 11 in 2012.
