
Track & Field Captures Nine Wins At South Alabama Invite

MOBILE, Ala. – Showing out on the final day of the South Alabama Invitational, the Mississippi State track and field teams brought home a combined nine wins Saturday.
“We ended the weekend on a good note,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “It's always great to return home with this many wins. It's great for our athletes. These team continue to compete in every meet.”
Throwing a personal-best, Haley Reynolds brought home her first win of the season in the shot put. She threw 48-02.25, the third-best throw in MSU history. Also bringing home a first-place victory in the field was javelin thrower Curtis Thompson. Thompson, who is second in the nation in the event, threw 243-06 to claim the win.
Another victory for the Bulldogs was won by high jumper Seth Peace after clearing 6-11.50.
Finishing first and second in the 1500m run was Patrick Monaghan and Andrew Monaghan. Patrick Monaghan ran a time of 3:51.00, while his brother, Andrew Monaghan, posted a time of 3:52.32.
Running his way into first, Andrew Monaghan went on to capture first in the 3000m run with a time of 8:38.73. Finishing immediately behind Andrew Monaghan was Branden Nosker in second with a time of 8:51.84 and JT Mackay in third with a time of 8:59.30.
The women's team also captured first in the 1500m run after Mia Meydrich posted a personal-best 4:26.63. Competing alongside Meydrich was Shannon Fair who finished fourth with a time of 4:40.93.
In her first 3000m run appearance for the Maroon and White, Carly Terp captured first clocking a time of 10:25.40.
MSU took one, two and three in the men's 400m dash. Leading the way was Philip Smith with a time of 47.44. Charles Taylor quickly followed Smith with a time of 47.57 and Vince Castillo, running 48.20 placed third.
To conclude the meet, the men's 4x400m relay team comprised of Rasheed Tatham, Charles Taylor, Philip Smith and Vince Castillo recorded a time of 3:12.07 to clinch the first-place finish.
