Bibbs Paces MSU At Day One of SEC Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Playing under overcast skies, the Mississippi State men's golf team, led by Taylor Bibbs, opened the SEC Championship with a 304 to sit in 14th place.
Bibbs, a sophomore, started hot with birdies on two of his first three holes. He went on to turn in a 3-over par 73 to end day one tied for 31st.
Playing in his third and final SEC Championship, Ben Wood shot a 75 to tie for 47th.
In comparison, playing in his first SEC Championship, Jacob Ross sits in a tie for 58th after carding a round of 77.
Also making his first-career SEC Championship appearance, Ross Bell recorded one birdie on his way to shooting an opening-round 79 that gave him sole possession of 65th.
Rounding out the Bulldog scorecard, Taylor Grant carded an 81 to tie for 69th.
Kentucky and Georgia have the team lead after day one, while Vanderbilt's Matthias Schwab holds a two-shot lead over the individual field.
MSU tees off the second round Saturday at 7:10 a.m. CST alongside in-state rival Ole Miss.
