PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Posting two top 25 wins, including an upset of the No. 3 seed, the Mississippi State women's tennis tandem of Jasmine Lee and Lisa Marie Rioux has advanced to the quarterfinals of the main draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The event is the first major of the college tennis season.
After posting three wins in qualifying play earlier this week to advance to the main draw, the senior Lee and freshman Rioux kept their momentum rolling Thursday. The pair opened main draw action by upsetting Stanford's 21st-ranked Emily Arbuthnott and Taylor Davidson 8-6. In the round of 16, the Bulldog duo registered another big upset, knocking off Michigan's third-seeded and fourth-ranked Brienne Minor and Mira Ruder-Hook 8-7(4).
Lee and Rioux, now 8-0 to start the season with five top 60 wins (three top 25) to their credit, will meet North Carolina's Jessie Aney and Hayley Carter in Friday's quarterfinals at 11 a.m. CT. Live video of main draw matches is available at FloTennis.com.
