PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif./WACO, Texas – On the second day of main draw action Friday, the Mississippi State women's tennis duo of Jasmine Lee and Lisa Marie Rioux were eliminated from play in the main draw at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. Meanwhile, State opened action at the Under Armour Kickoff at Baylor Friday afternoon.
After posting three wins in qualifying play earlier this week to advance to the Riviera/ITA main draw, the senior Lee and freshman Rioux ended their impressive run on Friday, falling to North Carolina's 14th-ranked pair of Jessie Aney and Hayley Carter. Aney and Carter defeated the Bulldog pair 8-0 to move on to the semifinals.
In consolation singles action Friday, State's eighth-ranked Lee was upended by Georgia's 21st-ranked Caroline Brinson in three sets 5-7, 7-6, 6-1, ending State's competition in the event.
Under Armour Kickoff
On the opening day at the Under Armour Kickoff at Baylor Friday, the Bulldog doubles pair of Jennifer Brown and Sara Lizariturry opened things for the Bulldogs by defeating Troy's Hannah Seizer and Luisa Ferrauti 8-3 in doubles.
