STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State joins 13 other men's tennis squads this weekend in Auburn, Ala., as the Bulldogs compete at the ITA Southern Region Championships at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

Play is slated to begin on Friday, Oct. 14, with the action wrapping up on Monday, Oct. 17. Teams participating include host Auburn, Alabama, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, MSU, Nichols State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane and UAB.

"This weekend will be another great opportunity for our team to grow and develop against quality competition," head coach Matt Roberts said. "We had a successful run at last week's ITA All-American, so I'm excited to see our guys implement some of the things they learned in Tulsa."

Last Time Out
Last week, the Bulldogs advanced five players to the ITA All-American Championships main draws, with two singles and two doubles teams advancing in Tulsa.

2015 ITA Southern Regionals
At last year's ITA Southern Regionals in Tuscaloosa, the trio of Niclas Braun, Trevor Foshey and Vaughn Hunter represented the Bulldogs. The three posted an 8-5 record in singles action, with Braun leading the way with a 4-1 mark.

MSU begins play on Friday as the trio of Braun, Foshey and Hunter will be joined by Mate Cutura, Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic. Cutura is slotted as a two seed in the singles draw while Borges is the fifth overall seed. On the doubles side, the duo of Cutura and Hunter are also a two seed.

The singles and doubles champions of this weekend's regional advance to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships at the USTA Billie Jean king National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., on Sunday, Nov. 3.

After concluding play in Auburn, MSU's next play date will be on Oct. 28 as the Bulldogs compete in a USTA Futures event in Birmingham, Ala.
