
Track & Field Teams Conclude Day One Of Spire Invite And Samford Invite

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Splitting the weekend between a pair of meets, the Mississippi State track and field teams concluded day one with Damian Roszko running the second-fastest time in MSU school history in the 5000m run.
“We worked hard today,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “However, we still have a long weekend ahead of us. I'm proud of the work our athletes are putting in, but I hope to see us improve tomorrow.”
Roszko placed first in the 5000m run with a time of 14:19.77 at the Spire Invitational in Geneva, Ohio. Also on the track, Steve Shoto placed second in the 600m run with a time of 1:19.22. Ocian Archer ran a time of 1:32.51 in the 600m run to finish fifth
Shayla Luckett finished 12th in the 200m dash with a time of 24.79. On the men's side Charles Taylor (21.93) placed 14th, while teammates Juston Waters (22.11) and Jovan Davis (22.43) finished 21st and 33rd.
In the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., three Bulldogs started day one with the high jump. Senior Abigail Dill cleared 5-05.00 to finish fourth. Junior Seth Peace cleared 6-08.75 to finish second. Following Peace was freshman Chance Stephens in third after clearing 6-08.75.
On the track in Birmingham, Kimari Marin finished 16th with a time of 25.39 in the 200m dash. Teammate Euricka Hardy finished behind Martin in 20th after running a time of 25.57. In the men's 200m dash, James Anderson placed 26th with a time of 22.71.
Action in Ohio tomorrow will resume at 10 a.m. CT, with senior Rochelle Farquharson in the long jump. Day two of the Samford Invitational will start with Jaquarius Wilson, Justin Pizarro and Wesley White in the 60m hurdles.
