February 14, 2015 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Running the 800m run for the first time this season, reigning two-time NCAA champion Brandon McBride ran not only the new Mississippi State school record, but also the nation's current leading time in the event.
McBride, who held the previous fastest time in MSU school history (1:47.51), ran 1:46.80 on Saturday to secure his victory at the Spire Invitational in Geneva, Ohio.
“I had a ton of fun out there today," McBride said. "It was a solid run, very smooth. It's always nice to run fast and be on the road with your teammates. However, there's still much work to be done before nationals."
