Adam Frazier Added To 2015 USA Baseball Premier12 Team
November 09, 2015 | Baseball
Frazier and his squad will open up the tournament Tuesday at 4 a.m. CT as the U.S. battles the Dominican Republic at the Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium in Taoyuan City, Taiwain. Following his opener Tuesday, Frazier will then compete against Japan, South Korea, Venezuela and Mexico in a round-robin group play format.
If Team USA advances past group play, it will play a quarterfinal game Nov. 16. The semifinals take place Nov. 19-20 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, with the championship game being played Nov. 21 in the same venue. All Premier12™ games will be live-streamed on the WBSC YouTube page.
The 2013 NCAA hits king was pulled from Major League Baseball's Arizona Fall League, where he was hitting .321 in seven games for the Glendale Desert Dogs. A sixth-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2013 MLB Draft, Frazier won the Eastern League batting title this season after hitting .324 in 103 games.
The Bishop, Georgia, native was a key reason why MSU made it to its ninth NCAA College World Series in 2013, leading the NCAA with 107 hits in 71 starts. For his efforts, Frazier was named an All-American by Perfect Game. The shortstop was one of 15 players from the 2013 NCAA finalist squad to sign a professional contract.
