MSU Receives More All-America Accolades
June 24, 2026 | Baseball
STARKVILLE – Postseason accolades continue to mount for Mississippi State and Ace Reese.
The College Baseball Foundation (CBF) selected Reese to its All-America team on Wednesday, marking the ninth time the junior third baseman has been named an All-American in his career. Additionally, the CBF recognized designated hitter Noah Sullivan and starting pitcher Tomas Valincius as honorable mentions for the honor.
Reese also received first team All-America accolades from Baseball America and Perfect Game this season along with second team selections from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). His selection gives the Diamond Dawgs 177 All-America honors in their storied history spanning 87 players.Â
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder from Canton, Texas became the third player in program history to hit 20-plus home runs in back-to-back seasons, joining Will Clark and Rafael Palmeiro.
Reese was the only player on the team to start all 62 games this spring batting .336 with 23 doubles, 24 homers and 74 RBIs. He led the Southeastern Conference in doubles with that total tying for the eighth-most in a single season in MSU history. His home run total in 2026 ranks fourth all-time in the school's annals and his 45 career homers in Maroon and White matches Tommy Raffo (1987-90) for ninth all-time at State.
Sullivan was tabbed as a first team All-American twice by the NCBWA as well as a two-time CSC Academic All-American of the Year. This season, the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder started 54 games as a designated hitter and three more at first base. The graduate from Orlando, Florida finished second on the team with a .342 batting average to go along with 75 hits, 14 doubles, 13 homers, 46 RBI and a team-best .451 on-base percentage. He also was second on the team with 10 steals in 12 attempts.
Sullivan's .463 on-base percentage during his two seasons at MSU ranks third-best in school history among players with 300-plus at bats.
Valincius earned first team All-America distinction from the NCBWA and was a second team selection by Baseball America, ABCA and Perfect Game. In 16 starts this spring, the sophomore left-hander posted an 11-2 record on the mound with a 3.50 earned run average. The Lockport, Illinois native struck out 134 and only walked 20 across 97 2/3 innings this year. His strikeouts were the eighth highest in a single season in school history while his win total tied for 10th. Opposing hitters batted just .230 against him and his 86 strikeouts during conference play led the SEC.
