Two Bulldogs Claim Singles Draw Titles At Roberta Alison

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – On the final day of the Roberta Alison, Mississippi State women's tennis players Louise Ronaldson and Madison Harris were crowned champions of their respective draws as the MSU team finished the tournament a combined 16-5 in singles and 6-3 in doubles.
Play began Saturday with the third and final round of singles.
MSU's Ronaldson downed Tulane's Kyla Klier in a hard-fought three-set battle in the Meritt Emery Draw title match, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1. State's Harrison upended Northwestern's Jillian Rooney in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to win the championship of the Becca Baum Draw.
State had four other players vying for titles in other singles draws. In the finals of the Shelley Godwin Draw, Caroline Kelly was set back by Samford's Ellie Gerlach 6-4, 6-1. The Bulldogs' Jennifer Brown was upended in the finals of the Susan Carver Draw by Georgia Tech's Alexis Prokopuik, 6-3, 6-4.
In the finals of the Paulina Bigos Draw, MSU's Kristina Vozniak fell to Troy's Sanae Ohta 6-2, 6-4. Anastasia Rentouli was turned back in a tight three-set battle by Georgia Tech's Rasheeda McAdoo 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 in the title match of the Courtney McLane Draw.
In the 3rd place match of the Weyli Chang Draw, State's 83rd-ranked Georgiana Patrasc picked up a ranked win, as she was victorious over Georgia Tech's No. 74 Johnnise Renaud 6-2, 6-4.
After singles play was completed, the second and third rounds of doubles were played.
State's duo of Vozniak and Harrison was set back by DePaul's Marina Cozac and Rebeca Mitrea 6-4 in the semifinals of the Jenny Whalen Draw. In the 3rd place match, the duo defeated Samford's Carita Moolman and Jessica Northcutt 6-0. In the semifinals of the Bianca Svensson Draw, MSU's Kelly and Samford's Iva Parapunova fell to Ole Miss' Allie Robbins and Brooke Stevens 6-3. They then went on to defeat Tulane's Jacqui Katz and Kyla Klier 6-4 in that bracket's 3rd place match.
In consolation of the Emily Zabor Draw, the MSU tandem of Patrasc and Rentouli earned a win against DePaul's Yuliya Shupenia and Patricia Lancranjan via withdrawal. The duo then went on to defeat UT Chattanooga's Kayla Jones and Kelsey Coots in the 5th place match 6-4. MSU's pair of Brown and Ronaldson was victorious over Kennesaw State's Laura Hopton and Laura Dean via withdrawal in the second round of the Mary Anne Macfarlane (Daines) Draw. They then went on to defeat Samford's Annika Hepp and Ellie Gerlach 6-4 in their 5th place contest.
