October 17, 2015 | Cross Country
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Competing in a large field Friday night, the Mississippi State men's cross county team finished 15th at the Crimson Classic 8K.
The Bulldogs scored 348 points at the meet, which had 24 teams and 218 runners. Oklahoma State took home first place after scoring 27 points.
"It's disappointing because this is not the way we wanted today to go,” MSU coach Houston Franks said. “We were missing two of our top guys today and that hurt, but we did not do as well as we should have. There is still more we need to work on before going into SECs.”
Leading the way for the Bulldogs for the second time this season was senior Mathew Dunn with a time of 25:30.60 to finish 33rd.
Claiming the second spot in MSU's Top 5 was freshman JT Mackay with a season-best time of 26:14.10 that put him 80th overall.
Following Mackay in 82nd was senior Andrew Monaghan, who ran a time of 26:15.81.
Branden Nosker and Tristan Orman earned MSU's fourth and fifth spots, finishing 88th and 104th, respectively. Nosker ran a time of 26:18.87, while Orman earned a season-best 26:29.88.
Up next for the men's squad will be the SEC Championships on Oct. 30 in College Station.
Saturday the women's cross country team will be competing at the Pre-NCAA meet in Louisville, Ky., at 9:15 a.m. CT.
