
Bulldogs In 12th Place Heading Into Final Round Of Sugar Grove Regional

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – On an unseasonably cold day in northern Illinois, the Mississippi State men's golf team turned in a 26-over-par 314 to wrap up day two of the Sugar Grove Regional.
Friday's second round was delayed by nearly three hours due to wet and windy conditions, with MSU beginning play at 10:30 a.m.
Despite improving their score by a stroke, the Bulldogs (53-over-par 629) fell two spots on the leaderboard to 12th overall with only 18 holes to play. The top five teams from the Sugar Grove Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship slated for May 23-28.
No. 21 UAB (8-over-par 584) still holds on to first at Sugar Grove, with the Blazers leading No. 9 Illinois by one stroke.
Senior Barrett Edens turned in a 6-over-par 78 to finish Friday in a tie for 44th overall, while fellow senior Chad Ramey put together the best score of the afternoon after shooting a 5-over-par 77 to tie for 49th.
The senior duo of Joe Sakulpolphaisan and Axel Boasson are tied for 55th overall after shooting 15-over-par 159 for the regional.
Rounding out the Maroon and White scorecard was sophomore Ben Wood. The Florence, Ala., native has shot an 8-over-par each day of the regional, to earn a 16-over-par for his scorecard.
Homan's squad will tee off at 8:25 a.m. alongside UNLV and Cal State Fullerton for Saturday's final round.
