
MSU Holds On To Seventh Place Heading Into Final Round Of SEC Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Aided by three even scorecards from the Maroon and White lineup, the Mississippi State men's golf team held on to seventh place after two rounds of play from the SEC Championship.
The Bulldogs turned in a 1-over-par 281 on Saturday to tie with Missouri at 8-over-par 568. No. 1 Alabama (22-under-par 538) stretched its lead to 17 strokes at Sea Island by shooting 14-under-par for the second round.
“We had very consistent play from our guys today,” coach Clay Homan said. “We made a lot of pars and kept our mistakes to a minimum. I'm proud of the way our guys are hanging in there and competing. We need another solid outing tomorrow to finish off strong.”
The senior trio of Chad Ramey, Joe Sakulpolphaisan and Barrett Edens are poised for top-25 finishes after their play in the second round. Ramey turned in another even card on Saturday to tie for 15th overall, while teammates Sakulpolphaisan and Edens shot even and 1-over-par to finish tied for 24th overall.
Rounding out the Maroon and White scorecard from Sea Island were sophomore Ben Wood and senior Axel Boasson. Wood turned in an even score on Saturday, while Boasson posted a 5-over-par 75 from the course.
Homan's squad will tee off at 7:30 a.m. EST on Sunday, alongside Missouri and Kentucky.
