
Bulldogs Advance Six To Third Round At USTA Pensacola Futures

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Maroon and White was well represented in Pensacola Saturday as six Mississippi State men's tennis players advanced to the third round of qualifying play at the USTA Futures.
MSU's Pedro Dumont, qualifying first seed, easily handled his opponent Kotaro Isobe, winning 6-4, 7-6(6). State's other top seeds dominated second round play today. Stefan Vinti (sixth seed) defeated David O'Hare in a tough three set battle 6-3, 6-7(1), 6-2. Seventh seed Romain Bogaerts earned a straight-sets victory against Ture Skinner 6-0, 6-1.
State freshman Jordan Angus, who also earned a first-round bye, stormed back after dropping his first set to defeat Zhao Yang Wang 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.
Bulldog senior James Chaudry faced-off against Domenico Saro, winning 6-2, 6-4. Dusseldorf, Germany native Malte Stropp also found victory as well, as his opponent David O'Leary retired at 5-5 in the first set due to injury.
All six remaining Bulldogs will compete in third round action tomorrow, with a chance to advance to the final round Monday. Winners in Monday's qualifying finals will earn a spot in the main draw, which will begin Tuesday Oct. 30.
