FRESHMAN (2012-13)
A part of a recruiting class that is expected to make a immediate impact on the 2012-13 Bulldog squad.
FALL - Finished fall play with a 7-3 (.700) record in singles, second best on team... Had a 5-3 individual doubles record at the end of fall play, pairing with teammates James Chaudry and Pedro Dumont throughout the season... Defeated opponents from Nebraska and Memphis in straight-sets to advance to the round of 32 in pre-qualifying play at the ITA All-American Championships... Earned consecutive straight-sets victories at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships, falling to 5th-nationally ranked Nik Scholtz of Ole Miss in a tough-fought three setter 6-3, 3-6, 2-6... Finished singles play at the Bulldog Scramble with an impressive 3-1 record, including two wins against SEC opponents... Paired with senior James Chaudry, advanced to the semifinals of the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships in doubles play in Auburn, Ala... Earned two victories in doubles play with teammate Pedro Dumont at the Bulldog Scramble.SPRING - Currently 4-10 in dual match singles play for the season... Earned his first dual match singles victory against LSU's Mark Bowtell in a dominating 6-0, 6-3 win... Posted an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory against Tennessee Tech's Alvaro Cintas in the second match of a Sunday doubleheader for the Bulldogs... Defeated Austin Akers of Samford 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the Bulldogs' victory... Earned a crucial victory for MSU with a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Alabama's Philippe Tsangarides, helping State defeat their SEC rivals... The win was the first SEC victory for the freshman and has now won all four matches in straight sets.

Attended Axente Sever Teoretic High School in Medias, Romania... Considered the best Romanian player coming to the collegiate ranks for the 2012-13 season... The best U-18 player in his country... Has climbed as high as 28th in the ITF's junior rankings... Participated in two junior grand slams, The Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Stefan Vinti was born on June 21, 1994, in Medias, Romania... The right-hander enjoys spending his summer vacation time playing beach volleyball and swimming... Chose MSU based on its great reputation in both the tennis and academic programs.
