Bulldog Linksters Through Two Rounds At Mason Rudolph
September 25, 2010 | Men's Golf
The Memphis Tigers lead the 17-team field with a 10-under-par two round total. SEC-foe South Carolina is in second, followed by third-place Oklahoma, while in-state rival Ole Miss and host-school Vanderbilt round out the top five. MSU is in tenth and are currently 14-over-par.
A pair of Bulldogs are currently in the top 10 of the 89-player individual field. True freshman Chad Ramey and junior Lee Heaton both are in a tie for eighth with two-round totals equaling 141. Ramey posted an even-par 71 on Saturday, while Heaton gave a 1-under-par effort for today's action and was MSU's leader in birdies made in the second round with five.
True freshman Axel Boasson has a two-round score of 147. Sophomore Robi Calvesbert improved three strokes on day two of the tournament with a 75 and classmate Brad Mason matched Calvesbert's second round total and improved six strokes from the opening day.
"We continue to struggle from 125 yards and in," Coach Clay Homan said. "When we improve that we will be a competitive team. We have two or three play well each round but it takes four to put together a good team score."
The Bulldogs will conclude tournament play on Sunday, Sept. 26. MSU will tee off at 7:30 a.m. CT. Live stats will be available at www.msstateathletics.com.
