Terpko Claims Championship On Day Two Of Roberta Allison Fall Classic

"Overall we played very well today," Coach Daryl Greenan said. "We had several good wins and really we figured out the things we need to work on. I am excited to get back to Starkville and begin working on those things."
A native of Pompano Beach, Fla., Terpko battled through a tough three set match in the Maria Sharapova draw as she defeated the #4 seed Caitlin McGraw of Kentucky, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. In her final match, Terpko ousted Tulane's third seeded Lindsay Dvorak, 6-2, 6-3 to claim her title. Lady Bulldog junior Jordan Zachary also advanced to the consolation finals before falling to Kentucky's Marni Venter, 6-0, 6-3.
MSU junior Mariia Ryzhova withdrew from play during her doubles match this morning due to back soreness from a long match yesterday. She was unable to compete in the rest of her singles matches in the Caroline Wozniacki draw. In the Lindsay Davenport draw, freshman Vivian Pietraroia was defeated in her first round consolation match by Memphis' Kelly Gray, 7-6 (2), 6-2.
In doubles play, Ryzhova and Terpko were unable to compete due to Ryzhova's injury in the first round consolation match of the US Open draw. The Lady Bulldog duo of Pietraroia and Zachary were defeated in their consolation match in the Australian Open draw by Dvorak and Katie Cecil of Tulane, 8-4.
Today's action concluded the Lady Bulldogs' play in the Roberta Allison Fall Classic. MSU will return to the courts next month, Oct. 22, at the ITA Southern Region Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
