
State Golf Completes First Round Action At Mason Rudolph Championship

Memphis and Oklahoma are in a tie for the lead for the 17-team field with a 10-under-par effort. In-state rival Ole Miss is the only team under par on the opening day with a 2-under-par 282 and is in third. SEC-foe South Carolina and host-school Vanderbilt round out the top five, while Davidson, Akron and Chattanooga stand sixth, seventh and eighth. MSU is tied with Middle Tennessee for ninth to close out the top 10.
Ramey is in a tie for 11th among the 89-member individual field and was among the leaders in par 4 scoring. Ramey also led the Bulldogs in pars made with 15.
Playing in his first tournament of the season, junior Lee Heaton notched an even-par 71 on the opening day and is tied for 16th in the individual field. Heaton also led State in birdies made with four. True freshman Axel Boasson went 2-over-par in the first round and is in a tie for 38th. Sophomores Robi Calvesbert and Brad Mason round out the Bulldog lineup with rounds of 78 and 81.
