MSU Women's Tennis Team Concludes Day One Of SEC Coaches' Classic

Lady Bulldog junior Olesya Tsigvintseva was defeated by 89th-ranked Courtney McLane of Alabama, 6-2, 6-1 in Flight 1B. Mariia Ryzhova, a senior from Kharkiv, Ukraine, was ousted by 76th-ranked Kate Lukomskaya of Arkansas in Flight 2B. Lady Bulldogs Danielle Terpko, Roseline Dion, Vivian Pietraroia and Jordan Zachary also fell in straight sets. State's best singles effort of the day came from senior Elizabeth Hall who dropped a tough 6-4, 7-5 affair to Georgia's Rachael Hart in the opening round of Flight 5B.
In doubles play, the State duo of Tsigvintseva and freshman Roseline Dion was ousted by the 27th-ranked tandem from Ole Miss, Conner Vogel and Gabby Rangel, 8-0. Lady Bulldogs Danielle Terpko and freshman Vivian Pietraroia pushed Kentucky's pair of Caitlin McGraw and Marni Venter to a thrilling tiebreaker before being defeated, 9-8(3) in Flight 4 doubles consolation action.
Play will resume Saturday morning with more singles and doubles competition.
