In an eventual match deciding tie-breaker, MState fell at the No. 2 slot when the Bulldog tandem Antonio Lastre and Daniel Sanchez fell to Huskies Derek Drabble and Martin Kidahl, 9-8(2).
Bulldog sophomore Sanchez helped State even the score 1-1, claiming a two-set battle over Brad Bator of Washington at the No. 6 slot, 6-3, 6-1. The Huskies would regain the lead with a win at the No. 5 position by Obenaus over State's Doerr, 6-4, 6-2. Playing at No. 3 in the lineup, Cant improved his unblemished dual match record to 5-0, following his two-set takedown over Washington's Drabble, 6-3, 6-2. All five of Cant's wins this season have come in an impressive two sets.
With the score evened 2-2, Washington went on a two-match tear to clinch the win for the Huskies. MSU fell at the No. 1 position to give UW the 3-2 lead, when State's 42nd-ranked Coupland was defeated 6-4, 6-2, by Nedunchezhiyan of Washington. Washington clinched the match at the No. 2 spot when Bulldog sophomore Ilyushin fell to UW's McMorrow in identical sets, 6-4, 6-4.
