
Senior LaQuinta Aaron Continues To Shine At SEC Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Mississippi State senior LaQuinta Aaron continued her stellar performance at the 2010 SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville Saturday. Aaron sprinted to become the leading qualifier for the 60-meter hurdle final.
"LaQuinta had a superb hurdle race today," head coach Al Schmidt said. "She and Keisha Wallace ran very well to get into tomorrow's final."
Aaron clocked in at a season high and personal-best 8.33 seconds which moved her to second all-time in MSU history. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. product wasn't the only Lady Bulldog to qualify for Sunday's final. Freshman Keisha Wallace ran 8.39 seconds, good for third all-time in MSU history, to finish with the fifth fastest time.
Florida is the meet leader with 50 points after five events scored, followed by Arkansas (30 points) in second and Tennessee (25 points) in third. State is currently in 10th place with four points.
In other events Saturday, freshman Chloe Phillips ran a personal-best in the mile run. Phillips, MSU's top cross country runner in 2009, ran 4 minutes, 59.74 seconds in the event final.
"We've got to have a big day tomorrow," Schmidt said. "We've got to step it up and do wellin the triple jump and the relays."
The Lady Bulldogs conclude competition at the SEC Indoor Championships Sunday beginning with field events at 10 a.m. and running events 12:35 p.m.
