Lady Bulldogs Complete First Day

SARASOTA, Fla. - Opening day play has been completed at the Lakewood Ranch National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships for the Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs tennis squad.
In doubles, the Lady Bulldogs tandem of Vivian Pietraroia and Jordan Zachery tookdown FLGC's duo Gyanna Mandic and Melissa Narzissenfeld in a tight tiebreaking battle, 9-8(8).
In singles MSU's Danielle Terpko reeled off a first round victory in straight sets over Oklahoma State's Nataliya Shatkovakaya, 6-3, 6-3. Terpko eventually fell in the second round to Miami's Gabriella Mejia, 6-1, 6-2.
Other active Bulldogs included Zachary who fell to two sets to Julie Sabacinski of Notre Dame, 6-1, 6-2. Mariia Ryzhova dropped a two-set match to Karolina Filipiak of Baylor, 6-2, 6-2. State's Pietraroia slipped up to Oklahoma State's CC Sardinha, 6-0, 6-4. Mississippi-native Elizabeth Hall dropped a 6-0, 6-1, decision to Miami's Bistra Otaschciyska.
