
Bulldog Linksters In Sixth After Day One At Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. - The Mississippi State men's golf team shot a two-round 582 and stand in sixth place after the first day of competition at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate in Vestavia Hills, Ala. After a 296 in the first round, State rebounded to shoot a 286 in the second round on Monday afternoon.
Individually for the Bulldogs, Brad Mason led the way, shooting a 3-over 143 in the first two rounds. After an opening score 72, Mason followed with a 71 and is currently tied for 16th. Lee Heaton is tied for 25th after shooting rounds of 73 and 72.
Alex Rowland is tied for 31st after a 147 on Monday. After a 76 in the first round, Rowland rebounded to shoot a 1-over-par 71 later in the day. Chad Ramey is tied for 37th, shooting a 9-over 149 on day one. Mike Genovese is in a tie for 52nd with rounds of 75 and 78 respectively.
As a team, the Bulldogs stand just 10 strokes out of fourth place behind South Alabama and UNLV who both shot a 572 on day one. The University of Florida leads the tournament by two strokes over Auburn heading into Tuesday's final round. Alabama is in third place with a 559.
