State Lady Netters Wrap Up Play At Hoosier Classic; Tsigvintseva Impressive Again

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Mississippi State's women's tennis team concluded its stint at the 2009 Hoosier Classic Sunday with more round of singles action.
MSU sophomore Olesya Tsiginvtseva once again showed why she is slowly becoming a leader for this year's squad. Tsigvintseva took third place in the top draw of the tournament with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Ashley Murdock of Memphis.
The victory by State's standout sophomore was the lone Mississippi State win on the day; however, as the remaining players each fell in straight sets.
That did not take away from a strong showing for the MSU squad this weekend though. Tsigvintseva finished in third place, while no State player finished lower than eighth in this year's Hoosier Classic.
Mississippi State will have an extended break before competing in this year's ITA South Region Championships in Atlanta, Ga. It will be the team's last tournament of the fall season and is slated for Oct. 22-26.
