MSU Women's Tennis Team Concludes Day Two Of Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Mississippi State's Lady Bulldog tennis team wrapped up day two of the Hoosier Classic with several key wins in both singles and doubles Saturday.
One bright spot for MSU was the play of freshman Danielle Terpko. The Pampano Beach, Fla., native ousted Amanda Brown of Memphis 6-1, 6-2 to take the consolation side of the Crimson Singles Draw. Also victorious was State sophomore Jordan Zachary. Zachary fought past Dara Toulch of Memphis 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (8).
Those would be the only wins MSU could muster in singles the rest of the way, however. Lady Bulldogs Natalia Mayuk and Olesya Tsigvintseva came just short of their respective draw's championship. Each lost in the semifinals today, forcing them into the consolation round.
In doubles, the State duo of Radka Ferancova and Valeriya Makarycheva managed to rebound from the loss yesterday to take ninth place in the lone doubles draw. The Maroon and White pair powered past Andrea Arques-Garcia and Marjorie Ondeck of Memphis 8-3 to advance to the championship. The opposing tandem in the championship then withdrew from the tournament, giving the State pair the No. 9 spot.
MSU's duo of Mayuk and Tsigvintseva split a couple of matches on the day. The pair finished in thirteenth place with an 8-2 triumph over the Kansas State tandem of Gomez Aleman and Carmen Borau Ramos to wrap up the day for the Lady Bulldogs.
Mississippi State will conclude play at the Hoosier Classic tomorrow morning with one round of singles.
