State Sophomores Continue Impressive Fall At Hoosier Classic

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Mississippi State's Natalia Mayuk and Olesya Tsigvintseva built on their strong fall season for the Lady Bulldog tennis team Friday, each picking up victories on the opening day of the Hoosier Classic.
Tsigvintseva, who took a pair of wins in the SEC Fall Classic two weeks ago, picked up where she left off. Playing in the top draw of the tournament, the State sophomore powered past Carmen Borau Ramos of Kansas State 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, fellow sophomore Mayuk advanced to the second round with a 7-6 (4), 6-1 triumph over Courtney Colins of Memphis in the Hoosier Draw. The remaining field of Lady Bulldogs failed to pick up a victory in singles action, each losing in straight sets.
With two rounds of doubles action slated for the day, MSU's tandem of Ferancova and Makarycheva rebounded from a loss in the first round to take an impressive 8-4 victory over the Memphis pair of Amanda Brown and Dara Toulch. It was MSU's lone doubles triumph on the day.
Mississippi State will be back in action tomorrow at the Hoosier Classic, competing in one round of singles and two rounds of doubles. Play is slated to start at 10 a.m. CT.
