MSU Cross Country Finishes Competition At Greater Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Mississippi State cross country teams concluded competition at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday with the Lady Bulldogs ending the day with a 12th-place finish out of 35 teams, while the Bulldogs came in 14th out of 38.
Louisville claimed the top honor in the men's 8K gold race, and Purdue won the women's 5K gold title. Stephen Sambu of Rend Lake College (23:33.22) earned medalist honors for the men, and Western Kentucky's Janel Jesang (16:47.97) won the women's individual title.
Lady Bulldog freshman Chloe Phillips of Flagstaff, Ariz., finished as MSU's top runner in 18 minutes, 2a3.20 seconds for the first time in her career. Right behind Phillips was junior Simone Domingue and Dominique Lockhart, who completed the race in 18:23.72 and 18:50.32 respectively.
For the men, Adam Lenz came at 25:03.02 as State's top finisher. Matthew Cameron and Daniel Simpkins rounded out MSU's top 3 finishers, finishing the 8K in 25:20.49 and 25:21.70, respectively.
Next up for MSU is the Chili Pepper Invitational on October 17 in Fayetteville, Ark.
