Two Lady Bulldogs Advance On Second Day Of ITA South Regional Championships

ATHENS, Ga., ? The Mississippi State women's tennis team saw two players advance in singles action on the second day of the ITA South Regional Championships.
Playing in the B Draw, State's Valeriya Makarycheva and Natalia Mayuk each picked up two wins to advance to the round of sixteen on Sunday. Mayuk continues her impressive fall campaign by first knocking off Isaballa Ohlinger of Central Florida 6-3, 6-2 followed by a 6-4, 7-5 win over Gabriela Viega of Troy. Meanwhile, Makarycheva advanced past Caroline Jouanin of Troy 7-6, 6-2 and defeated Jenna Osborne of Miami (Fla.) in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.
In other action, State's Olesiya Tsigvintseva defeated Jessica Zok of South Florida 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 before falling to Diana Nakic of Georgia State 6-3, 6-1 in the A Draw. MSU's Elna de Villiers lost to Hillary Davis of Georgia Tech 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 decision, while Radka Ferancova fell to another Yellow Jacket in Noelle Hickey 6-1, 6-2.
Following today's play, the Lady Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow as Makarycheva and Mayuk look to advance further in singles play.
