The Diamond Dawgs welcomed A.J. Gaura as MSU's coordinator of player development in the summer of 2017, after Gaura spent the 2016-17 season as the graduate assistant video coordinator for the Diamond Dawgs. A native of Suamico, Wisconsin, Gaura pitched at Iowa Western Community College (2011-12) before transferring to Austin Peay (2013-15) where he pitched out of the bullpen and earned his bachelor's in business administration.
Gaura extended his time at Austin Peay by serving as the volunteer assistant/camp coordinator in 2016, allowing him to earn his master's of science in management. Before coming to Starkville in the fall of 2016, Gaura served as the pitching coach for the 2016 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Champion Amsterdam Mohawks.
