Alleah Stamatis
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
On July 1, 2023, Mississippi State volleyball announced Alleah Stamatis as an assistant coach.
In 2023, Stamatis’ first season as an assistant coach, MSU finished with a 13-15 record, including a 6-12 SEC record that featured a Top 15 victory against No. 14 Florida (Oct. 13). It was the second time in program history and the first time at home the Bulldogs earned win over the Gators. State also collected wins against Western Michigan (Sept. 8) and SEC foe Auburn (Nov. 15), who received bids to the NCAA Tournament.
Stamatis assisted in the development of three student-athletes who received SEC weekly honors in 2023. Libero Lauren Myrick tabbed her first SEC weekly honor by being named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while middle blocker Zoe Gonzales collected her first SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Right side Amina Shackelford earned SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the first of her career. Off the court, middle blocker Rebecca Walk was named to the 2023 SEC Community Service Team for the third consecutive year and College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive year.
Stamatis served as MSU’s director of volleyball operations from 2021-22. She managed team travel, match operations, and assisted in stat keeping during matches and practices.
In November of 2020, Stamatis was named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Diversity Award, which allowed her to participate in series of educational, developmental and relationship building experiences in conjunction with the 2020 AVCA Virtual Convention. The award was sponsored by SEC assistant coaches.
Stamatis played under MSU volleyball head coach Julie Darty Dennis as a freshman and sophomore at Jacksonville, then made the move to Starkville as a transfer when Dennis accepted the head coaching job at State in 2018. The Bulldog setter had two great seasons in the Maroon and White, including a 2019 senior campaign in which she became just the seventh Bulldog to eclipse 1,000 assists in a single season.
At Jacksonville, Stamatis was a second-team All-Atlantic Sun selection after her sophomore season in which she finished No. 2 in the ASUN in assists, (1,038) and collected 50 or more assists in seven matches.
A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Stamatis graduated from Mississippi State in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in psychology.
