February 28, 2026 | Track & Field
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mississippi State track and field concluded the third day of the SEC Championships, highlighted by a podium finish by Roury McCloyen.
The final day of competition saw action from the Bulldogs on both the track and in the field events.
McCloyen had a massive performance in the shot put, throwing 20.11m for a new program record and personal best, securing bronze. His fourth-round throw not only secured him a podium finish but also put him fourth in the NCAA and made him the first man over 20m in program history.
Nicholas Fakorede competed in the 60m final, earning eighth over the distance, adding one point to the team's total. Manie Mevo competed in her first SEC triple jump final, securing seventh with a 13.06m mark.
Nelly Jemeli took down the 3000m program record with her 9:16.38 finish, followed closely by Milicent Kemboi in 9:19.19. Kemboi's time is now the third fastest ever run by a Bulldog.
The meet concluded in the 4x400m relays, with the women's team finishing eighth. The women's squad, consisting of Jessicka Woods, Ife Adisa, Camryn Merryman and De'Kayla Simpson, crossed the line in 3:36.37. Their finish improved on the No. 2 all-time mark in program history, run earlier this season.
The men's 4x400m, run by Sherman Hawkins Jr., Christion Barker, Keayari Lee and Malachi Burton, crossed the line in 3:06.07 to finish seventh.
The Bulldogs now turn their sights to the NCAA Indoor Championships for those who qualify. The meet, scheduled for two weeks from now, will be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
