
Mississippi State Set for a Four Match Stretch at Home

STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 37 Mississippi State women's tennis begins a four match stretch across a five day period.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to continue SEC play in their fifth doubleheader on Feb. 26 hosting No. 14 Tennessee before facing EKU. On Saturday, Feb. 28 State then welcomes Kentucky at 1 p.m. to close the weekend.
MSU will wrap up the stretch on March 2 at 11 a.m. against Memphis in a rescheduled match that was previously postponed due to weather.
State enters the four match stretch hoping for their first SEC win of the season after falling to No. 29 Alabama 4-1 this past weekend.
Mississippi State looks to continue its strong non-conference play under head coach Chris Hooshyar when playing against EKU and Memphis. The Bulldogs have compiled a 28–3 record in non-conference action across his time here at State and is 24-6 when playing a doubleheader.
The Bulldogs currently sit at No. 37 in the latest ITA team rankings. In doubles play, the nationally ranked duo of Gianna Oboniye and Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz sits at No. 13 in the ITA Doubles Rankings. The duo captured its first win together this season with a dominant 6–0 victory over Georgia Southern's Mackenzie Leopold and Evelyn Warkentin on Feb 6.
No. 14 Tennessee arrives in Starkville following a 4-0 win over Kentucky. Mississippi State is 11-41 all-time against the Volunteers and will look to avenge last season's 4-0 loss. The Bulldogs' most recent victory over Tennessee came in 2021 in Starkville, 4-3.
Eastern Kentucky enters the matchup riding a four-match winning streak, most recently sweeping a doubleheader against Western Kentucky and Bowling Green on Feb. 15. State holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series and claimed a 4-0 victory in the last meeting in Starkville.
Kentucky will travel to Alabama before heading to Starkville for Saturday's contest. Mississippi State is 7-44 in the all-time series against the Wildcats, with its last win coming in 2022 in Lexington by a 4-1 score.
Memphis is set to face No. 52 Columbia on Feb. 28 before traveling to Starkville for Monday's rescheduled match. The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers 4-2 in their last meeting in 2025 at home.
