February 13, 2026 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field concluded the first day of competition, split between the Tiger Paw Invitational, hosted by Clemson, and the Music City Challenge, hosted by Vanderbilt.
Action for the Bulldogs in Nashville began in the men's weight throw, where Roury McCloyen and Juha Narhi earned spots on the program's top five all-time list. McCloyen's personal best of 18.70m moved him to the second-place spot, and Narhi now holds the fourth farthest mark at 18.45m.
Marie Rougetet threw a personal best of 19.01m to take the win in the weight throw open section. Tafada Wright followed her up in the invite section, earning a personal best of 19.27m to finish fourth.
Wright's mark is the third farthest mark in program history, followed closely by Rougetet, who sits in fourth.
Naomi Jepleting closed the day out in the 5000m, running 16:18.10 for a new program record. Jepleting now holds the program's indoor, outdoor and freshman record over the distance.
Over in Clemson, Keayari Lee made a splash in the men's 400m, running a personal best of 45.99 to finish 10th. His time is the third fastest in program history over the distance.
Nicholas Fakorede earned another season's best of 6.59 in the 60m, advancing to the finals, which were subsequently canceled. Both Lee's and Fakorede's times seat them in the top 20 nationally.
Thirteen personal bests were set across both meets on the first day of competition. Action will resume in Clemson tomorrow morning in the men's pole vault and in the men's shot put in Nashville.
