Bulldogs Open 2026 Season In Birmingham
January 16, 2026 | Track & Field
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State track and field started the 2026 indoor campaign at the Samford Invite in Birmingham.
"I'm happy with how the season started for the team," said head coach Chris Woods. "This was a good opportunity to see where we are at, and now we can return to training with a more refined gameplan to get us to where we need to be at the end of the indoor season."
The Bulldogs racked up 11 event wins on the track and in the field. The Bulldogs also swept the top three in both the women's 60m and 3000m.
The day began in the throws and pole vault, where Riley Brush and Alla Parnov both jumped 4.07m to cement themselves on the program all-time list. Brush also took home the win in her collegiate debut and is one centimeter off the program's freshman record.
Tamiia Fuller stamped her name across the MSU record book, tying the 60m record and running the fourth fastest 200m in program history. She took home the win in both events.
Caleb Kaplan opened his season with nearly a meter improvement on his personal best in the weight throw, tossing 18.29m for the fifth furthest mark in school history.
Manie Mevo concluded the individual events with a win in the triple jump, earning 12.69m for a new personal best and Samford Invite meet record. Â
The Bulldogs will return to action at the Bob Pollock Invite, hosted by Clemson, at the end of the month.
