Mississippi State Tennis Wraps Up Competition at ITF M15 Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mississippi State men's tennis was well-represented at the ITF M15 Fayetteville, held Sept. 15–21, with Michal Novansky, Mario Martinez Serrano, and Benito Sanchez Martinez competing in both singles and doubles action against top collegiate and international talent.
Michal Novansky Advances to Main Draw, Wins First-Round Match
Novansky put together a strong showing, advancing through the qualifying rounds to reach the singles main draw. He opened with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Ioan Alexandru Chirita before rallying for a hard-fought 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory against Michigan State's Vuk Radjenovic to qualify.
In the main draw, Novansky impressed with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 win over William Grant in the first round before falling to No. 5 seed Raphael Perot in the second round, 1-6, 0-6, to conclude his singles run.
Mario Martinez Serrano Picks Up Qualifying Win
Martinez Serrano also earned a qualifying round victory, defeating LSU's Alessio Vasquez 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round. He was later eliminated in the second round by Texas A&M's Khololwam Montsi, 3-6, 1-6, in a competitive matchup.
Benito Sanchez Martinez Makes Main Draw Appearance
Sanchez Martinez entered the singles main draw but dropped his opening-round match to former Michigan standout Andrew Fenty, 3-6, 2-6.
Novansky, Sanchez Martinez Win Doubles Opener
In doubles, the pairing of Novansky and Sanchez Martinez delivered a notable victory in the first round, defeating the team of Andrew Fenty and Noah Schachter 6-3, 6-1. The duo nearly reached the semifinals but narrowly fell in a tiebreak to tandem Blu Baker and Gabriel Elicha Navas, 6-4, 1-6, 8-10.
