Four Bulldogs earn a spot in the ITA preseason rankings

STARKVILLE – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason Rankings have been released, and four bulldogs are representing maroon and white with two singles standouts and two doubles teams earning recognition.
In singles, Gianna Oboniye came in at No. 56 following a breakout freshman campaign. Oboniye logged an 8-8 record in singles dual matches while competing at the No. 1 position earning her first spot in the ITA singles rankings, debuting at No. 87 on April 22. Joining her is sophomore Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz, who makes her singles ranking debut at No. 85.
The Bulldogs also feature two ranked doubles pairs. A fresh doubles duo which includes Kempenaers-Pocz and Chiara Di Genova being ranked at No. 54 and our returning doubles tandem Oboniye and Athina Pitta securing No. 80.
Oboniye and Pitta formed one of Mississippi States most reliable doubles teams during the 2024-25 season. The pair led the team with 11 doubles wins and ranked in the top 50 of the final ITA doubles rankings.
