STARKVILLE – For the second-straight week and third time this season, a Mississippi State player was honored with a weekly award from the Southeastern Conference.
Ace Reese was selected as the SEC Player of the Week after leading the league in hitting this past week. He went 8-for-12 (.667) with three doubles, four home runs, six RBIs and five walks. He scored 11 runs and went deep in all three games of State's sweep at Missouri.
The sophomore third baseman had a slugging percentage of 1.917 and an on-base percentage of .765 against the Tigers. Reese also extended his career-long hitting streak to 21 games and recorded his fifth multi-homer game of the year.
Reese currently leads the SEC with 159 total bases, is second with 18 doubles, 21 homers and a slugging percentage of .772 and ranks third in batting average (.369), hits (76) and RBIs (66). The native of Canton, Texas also has 24 multi-hit and 20 multi-RBI games this season.
Reese is the 38th Diamond Dawg to win SEC Player of the Week and first since Dakota Jordan did so on March 11, 2024. Pico Kohn and Evan Siary were recognized as SEC Pitcher of the Week earlier this spring on March 24 and May 12, respectively.
