State Slugs Its Way To Series-Evening Win Over South Carolina

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State topped South Carolina 11-4 on Saturday afternoon at Dudy Noble Field, evening up the weekend's three-game set at a win apiece.
The Bulldogs outhit the Gamecocks 12-5 with Ace Reese leading the charge. Reese went 3-for-5 at the plate with two home runs and a pair of RBIs. Reed Stallman followed suit, going 2-for-2 including a homer, a double and an RBI.
Noah Sullivan and Dylan Cupp also got a home run each to bring State to five total home runs for the day. Hunter Hines and Joe Powell each hit a double.
From the pitching staff, Chase Hungate snagged the win, improving his record to 2-1. He struck out four batters in 4 2/3 scoreless frames with no hits and only one walk. He came in to relieve starter, Evan Siary, who struck out five Gamecocks and allowed only two walks in his outing.
On Deck:
Mississippi State will finish its series against the Gamecocks on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
The Bulldogs have right-handed pitcher Karson Ligon (2-4, 7.33 ERA) set to start on the mound. South Carolina has yet to announce its pitching plans.

- The last time the Bulldogs had five home runs in an SEC game was against Florida on March 30, 2024.
