Dawgs Drop 11-8 Decision To Florida

STARKVILLE– Mississippi State dropped an 11-8 decision to Florida on Saturday night at Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs carried a 6-3 lead into the seventh inning before the Gators rallied to take a lead they'd never relinquish.
Noah Sullivan's bat was hot in defeat, going 3-for-4 including a first-inning two-run homer that had the Diamond Dawgs off to a fast start. Reed Stallman also had a two-run shot in the game for MSU. Ace Reese had two hits and a pair of RBIs of his own. Gatlin Sanders notched two hits as well for State.
On the mound, Evan Siary started for the Bulldogs and recorded a new single-game career high in strikeouts after punching out six Gators. Siary surrendered just two runs over four innings. Four more State hurlers handled the remaining five frames with Luke Dotson and Ryan McPherson combining to toss three innings without allowing an earned run. Nate Williams suffered the Bulldog loss, dropping his record to 1-3 for the season.
Both teams totaled 11 hits on the night. Florida improved to 27-14 overall and 6-11 in SEC play while the Bulldogs fell to 5-12 in the league and 23-16 overall.

Mississippi State wraps up its series against Florida on Sunday at 2 p.m. on ESPN2. Senior right-hander Karson Ligon (3-4, 5.13 ERA) will start for the Diamond Dawgs while the Gators go with sophomore righty Luke McNeillie (3-1, 4.24 ERA).
