SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Mississippi State men's golf is set to continue its spring season in Arizona at the Desert Mountain Collegiate on March 8-9. The 7,107-yard par-72 Desert Mountain Outlaw Course hosts the event.Â
Â
36 holes will be played on Saturday with the final round being played on Sunday. State (No. 27) has the second-highest SCOREBOARD ranking among the 17 teams in the field, only behind No. 10 Utah.
Â
"This is our next step in our journey, and I'm excited to see how this team completes this week," head coach Dusty Smith said. "We need to immerse ourselves in our process and what Mississippi State golf successful. It will be good to see us get on a different type of golf course than what we are used to."
Â
The Bulldogs look to carry positive momentum from their most recent event, the Watersound Invitational, where they improved all three days and finished with three players in the top 30. MSU will start the same group from that event—Josep Serra (No. 1), Garrett Endicott (No. 2), Drew Wilson (No. 3), Dain Richie (No. 4), and Ugo Malcor (No. 5). Harrison Davis will compete as an individual.
Â
Serra is coming off a strong showing at the Watersound Invitational, where he finished in a tie for 14th. He continued the consistent play he has displayed all season, as he now leads the team with four top-20 finishes. The senior from Spain fired under-par rounds of 3-under 69 and 1-under 71 to close the tournament.
Â
Endicott finished in a tie for 30th at the Watersound, highlighted by a 3-under 69 in the second round. That round marked the 22nd round in the 60s of his career, tying him with Alex Rocha for fourth-most in program history.
Â
Wilson saved his best for last at the Watersound Invitational, closing with a 2-under 70, his best final round of the season. His fall campaign included a sixth-place showing at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, where he was the tournament leader after the first round and compiled 11 birdies with an eagle over the event's three days.Â
Â
Richie put together his best showing in the Maroon and White at the Watersound, finishing tied for 14th. He led the field with 49 combined pars and birdies, as well as firing rounds of par or better all three days. He is now tied for first on the team with eight par or better rounds.
Â
Malcor carded the team's best final round at the Watersound Invitational with a 3-under 69. His first fall in the Maroon and White included a seventh-place finish at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
Â
Davis will be competing in his third event of the spring as an individual. He put together his best finish since 2023 at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, opening the tournament with rounds of 2-under 70 and 3-under 69 and leading the field with a score of 10-under on the par-5s.
Â
Play begins Saturday with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. CT, and the second round will commence immediately afterwards. Live results will be available on SCOREBOARD.
