Diamond Dawgs Drop One-Run Decision To No. 5 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. โย Mississippi State had a strong night on the mound but a pair ofย solo home runs from No. 5 LSU was just enough to send the Bulldogs to a 2-1 loss on Friday night at Alex Box Stadium.ย
MSU hadย seven hits in the ballgame, butย 11 stranded base runners for State proved to be keyย in theย matchup. Dylan Cupp led the way for the offense with a double and a single to finish 2-for-3 at the plate. Hunter Hines, Ace Reese, Bryce Chance,ย Gatlin Sanders and Nolan Stevens all added hits forย the Diamondย Dawgs.
Pico Kohn received a tough-luck pitching loss after puttingย in five innings of work and strikingย out eight Tigers whileย surrendering just two earned runs in his seventh start of the season for State.ย Stone Simmons made his third relief appearance of the year, hurlingย three shutout innings and strikingย out three.
On Deck:ย Mississippi State and LSU conclude this weekend's three-gameย set onย Saturdayย afternoon at 2 p.m. The finale will be streamed on SEC Network+.ย
