Dawgs Fall In Four Against No. 3 Kentucky

STARKVILLE - Mississippi State fell to No. 3 Kentucky in today's matchup over four sets.
The Bulldogs rallied hard after a tough first set loss to even the score in the second. Gha'Naye Whitfield-Moss went on a tear in the set, picking up five kills, most of them back-to-back. The momentum shifted in the Dawgs' favor to take the set.
Lindsey Mangelson led the squad with 16 kills, while Whitfield-Moss also collected double-digit kills with 10.
Mangelson also led in points, picking up 19.5 over four sets played. She was followed closely by Whitfield-Moss, who earned 13.5 over four sets played, just shy of her season's best.
The Bulldogs totaled 44 digs, with McKenna Yates leading the squad with 13. Yates also led in service receptions at 32. Mary Neal and Mangelson both earned 23 in the match. The Bulldogs had only one serve receive error in the match, the lowest total of the season.
Whitfield-Moss tallied five blocks, with Cayley Hanson trailing close with 4 total blocks. Mangelson and Whitfield-Moss both earned two solo blocks. Ava Anderson also collected a solo block, adding to the Bulldogs' total.
Hanson picked up 31 assists, three kills and four digs in the match.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Sunday, as they take on No. 16 Tennessee. The match will be at home, starting at 4 p.m. and available to stream on SEC Netqork+.Â
