Hot-Shooting Bulldogs Take Down Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – A season-best shooting day for Mississippi State propelled the Bulldogs over Georgia, as State took the victory 79-68. The Bulldogs of Starkville shot 48.3 percent from distance and hit a season-best 14 threes.
The Bulldogs opened the game on fire with five threes in the first quarter, with 11 of their 14 made threes coming in the first half. At the midway point, State led Georgia by 14. After Georgia clawed back to within four, State would finish the game strongly, ending the contest on a 7-0 run.
Eniya Russell was electric for Mississippi State, as she finished with 21 points, nine assists and six rebounds. The graduate shot 53.3 percent from the floor and tied her career-high with four three pointers made. Russell's scoring performance was her personal best since the Bulldog season-opener, where she scored a career-high of 26 points.
Madina Okot picked up her sixth double-double of the season after scoring a personal SEC-high 19 points along with 12 rebounds. This marked the 12th time Okot finished in double-figures this season and the seventh time this season she collected 10 or more rebounds.
Jerkaila Jordan finished in double-figures for the 14th time this season, as she picked up 11 points and seven rebounds. Jordan knocked down both threes she took in the contest.
Along with Russell and Jordan, three other Bulldogs finished with multiple three pointers: Destiney McPhaul, Chandler Prater and Debresha Powe. Powe knocked down three shots from downtown on a 50 percent rate, while McPhaul and Prater knocked down two apiece. Six of nine Bulldogs who played in the game knocked down at-least one three.
The Bulldogs will be back in action when they hit the road to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on the now-ranked No. 16/15 Tennessee Volunteers. The game is set for 6 p.m. CT on SECN+.
