McCloyen’s World Championship Run Ends In Final

LIMA, Peru- Roury McCloyen's World U20 Championships run ends in the final round of the discus.
McCloyen had a strong first attempt in the competition, opening his series with 59.07m. This mark had him placed fourth throughout the first round of throws.
He followed up his first attempt with a 57.20m throw, which had no change in his scoring position. After the second round, McCloyen held the eighth, and final, qualification spot.
After a foul on his third attempt, McCloyen maintained the eighth position, until a 61.69m throw from a competitor knocked him into ninth place. To make a World Athletics final, athletes must be placed in the top eight, contrary to the top nine in the NCAA.
His freshman season ends after collecting accolades such as NCAA Second Team All-American honoree, two-time MSU Freshman Record holder, USATF U20 Discus Champion, and two-time NCAA Championship qualifier.
