July 29, 2024 | Women's Tennis
STARKVILLE – For the 13th time in the last 14 years, Mississippi State women's tennis was selected as one of the ITA's All-Academic Teams.
Chris Hooshyar's team posted a 3.70 overall grade point average for the year garnering a 3.74 GPA during the fall semester and followed up with a 3.67 in the spring. It was the highest GPA of any team at State, male or female, during the 2023-24 academic year.Â
In addition to MSU being named as one of the ITA's All-Academic Teams, six Bulldogs were also selected as ITA Scholar Athletes. Alessia Tagliente, Alexandra Mikhailuk, Athina Pitta, Ava Rath, Chloé Cirotte and Maria Rizzolo were all honored for their prowess in the classroom.
Mikhailuk and Pitta both posted perfect 4.0 GPAs while Tagliente, Rath, Cirotte and Rizzolo each earned GPAs of 3.6 or greater. It marked the third time Cirotte and Rizzolo have received ITA Scholar Athlete distinctions during their careers.
State has earned 110 ITA Scholar Athlete awards since 1988 with this year's six honorees being tied for the third-most in program history behind the 2020 and 2023 classes that had seven apiece.
