NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Locked in a pitcher's duel, the Mississippi State baseball team came up short as they were defeated by No. 11 Vanderbilt Commodores, 4-0, in game one of the series.

Mississippi State's offense could not get anything going Friday night, as they collected two hits. Connor Hujsak doubled to left field to pick up one of State's two hits of the night, and Dakota Jordan picked up a hit on an infield single.

Khal Stephen started the game on the mound, going 7 1/3 innings and recording six strikeouts. Cam Schuelke pitched 2/3 innings of relief work.

Mississippi State is back in action tomorrow for game two. First Pitch is set for 2 p.m. and will be broadcasted on SECN+.
