Bulldogs Shutout Rebels In Game One

OXFORD, Miss. - A sixth inning offensive explosion led the No. 22 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs past Ole Miss, 8-0, on Friday night in Oxford. The shutout for the Dawgs is the second shutout of the season.
Khal Stephen drew the start tonight and earned his fifth win on the season. He only gave up three hits and no runs, earned runs or walks in eight innings of work, his most as a Bulldog, and tied his career-high. He also struck out nine. Tyson Hardin came in and finished the job in the ninth, striking out two.
At the plate, Dakota Jordan and David Mershon led the way. Jordan went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, both coming from his home run in the sixth. Mershon also went 2-for-5 with two RBIs as well. Logan Kohler and Bryce Chance also had a impressive nights at the plate. Kohler went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, and Chance went 1-for-3 with one RBI. The Dawgs offense produced eight runs on eight hits.
Mississippi State had an explosion in the sixth inning, as that is when they scored seven of their eight runs.
Mississippi State is back in action on Saturday for game two against Ole Miss in Oxford. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
