Bulldogs Victorious Against Memphis in Offensive Explosion

STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the Memphis Tigers by a score of 17-9 in midweek action on Tuesday night at Dudy Noble Field. The Dawgs were in a 9-3 hole in the fifth, but they responded well, scoring 14 unanswered runs. State tallied 16 hits as a team and batted .380 for the game.
Bradley Loftin drew the start tonight and had a solid performance, only giving up three hits and one walk while striking out four. Colby Holcombe earned his first win of the year against the Tigers. In 3 2/3 innings of work, Holcombe gave up three hits, no walks and struck out four.
The Diamond Dawgs stayed red hot at the plate, scoring 15 or more runs for their second straight game. The trio of Dakota Jordan, Connor Hujsak, and Aaron Downs combined for 10 of the 15 RBIs and eight of the 17 runs. Jordan went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Hujsak went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Downs went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. David Mershon also impressed, going 3-for-5 with four runs scored.
Mississippi State is back in action on Thursday as it plays the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station, Texas. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Bryce Chance scored on an Amani Larry single to center, and Johnny Long scored as Jordan got hit with the bases loaded.
